Our contribution to the goals for sustainable development
In Gemhype.com the theme of sustainable development is very important to us. Our sustainability claims are based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations.

Our contribution
A large number of companies worldwide are now contributing to the goals set. We as a company are also actively involved and already act in accordance with the SDGs. We are constantly working on how we can pursue suitable strategies with our online store and implement them accordingly.
The sustainable shipping
For example, our shipping box (see picture above) consists of renewable raw materials and is therefore biodegradable. Our goal is to completely eliminate the use of plastic in the shipping. Currently we are doing very well, only tiny millimeter stones are sent in PE bags, which are recyclable. Our goal, however, is to find a long-term solution so that we can switch to 100% sustainable packaging when sending stones. This ambition we connect with the Goal Nr. 12 RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION.

Strengthening the regional location
Furthermore, we care to support our region. We want to keep the tradition of the region, we succeed by combining the traditional companies with the modern business model of online sales.
We obtain our gemstones and accessories for the trade regionally from Idar-Oberstein, the city of gemstones. GOAL No. 9 INDUSTRY; INNOVATION & INFRASTRUCTURE.The B2B online store for gemstones and the family-owned company HC Arnoldi e.K. share a company location in Kirschweiler near Idar-Oberstein, which guarantees environmentally friendly production and fair working conditions. Our parent company, from which we obtain the majority of our goods, does not use fossil fuels in the processing of the gemstones. This standard is also compatible with the above-mentioned goal NO. 12 SUSTAINABLE CONSUMER & SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION.
The countries of origin
The origin of our gemstones is particularly important to us. Especially in terms of working and living conditions of local people, there is still a high potential for development. For this reason, it is essential for us to know which country the gemstones come from. Only this makes sure to prevent us from buying goods out of conflict countries or from regions with bad working or trading conditions. This is the subject of the objective No. 8 DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH. More about our Fair Trade Gemstones can be found which has already been published.
Independent of the individual goals of the 17 SDGs, we would also like to get socially involved in the countries of origin of our gemstones. The majority of our gemstones originally come from Africa. For this reason, in a next step we will donate 1 Euro per order to a specially selected organization in Africa. The goal of this organization is to support the local people in order to give them sustainable future prospects without poverty. More information will follow in one of the next articles.
The Sustainable Development Goals
In summer 2015, the UN member states agreed on the draft Agenda 2030 and therefore on 17 goals for sustainable development. Agenda 2030 is aimed at enabling the world community to live in dignity.
The goals that were not achieved in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are to be picked up by the Sustainable Development Goals and subsequently achieved. The SDGs contribute to making the world a fairer, healthier, more peaceful and social place and serve to protect disadvantaged populations. The three dimensions of sustainability (social, economic and environmental) play a major role. The Sustainable Development Goals are based on the following core message: "All people should be able to live in a socially just world, receive a good education and have a decent job". In addition to 193 countries, many companies have taken up the challenge and are working on the implementation of the goals until 2030. Exact details of the various goals can be found on the website of the German government, among other things. In addition, the portal sdg-portal.de can be used to determine how one's own municipality performs in terms of sustainability goals.
With the support of the SDGs we want to contribute to sustainable development. It is important to us to work responsibly and in a way that conserves resources. For this reason, we want to achieve as many goals as possible with GEMHYPE.COM and are constantly developing.
